Linksys router?

i bought a linksys router today. I installed it, and then it said that i should plug something from my computer to the router, but i dont have any cords in my computer that will fit into the router. Is there any way i can get it to work, or do i have to buy i different router?|||Your router should be fine. A router will typically have two different kinds of connections.

One is the WAN (wide area network) connection. There is usually just one of these. You connect an ethernet cable (sometimes called a patch cable) from the router WAN port to the output port of your DSL or cable modem. This is your connection to the internet.

The other connections are LAN (local area network) connections. There are usually 4 or more of these. You use the same type of ethernet cable for these connections. But you hook up your home computers to these.

The cables you want will be straight-thru ethernet cables, with an RJ-45 connector at each end. They come in various lengths, generally from 3 feet to 25 feet and should cost less that $10 for the shorter lengths. You can get them at any computer store.|||NO, you almost certainly do not need to buy a different router, but you may need to buy a cable. Since you have not told us the model of the router or computer, it is difficult to be sure of exactly what you need. Most likely, you need a Category 5e/6 network patch cable. It will have RJ-45 connectors at both ends: these look like modular telephone plugs (which are RJ-11s), but the RJ-45s are bigger. (If you look carefully you can see that they have 8 wires rather than 4).
