How do I use my d=link with my linksys router?

I have a linksys wireless g router and a d-link dwl-520+ wireless card. I was wondering if I could use them together and how. I have installed the driver and the card. It recognizes the router but there is no way to connect to it, it doesnt have the same type of password or wep or something.|||Your configuration will work: But first you need to find your routers security setting for your D-Link connection such as the WEP Key:

Browse to http://192.168.1.1

When asked for a user name do not enter anything leave it blank - for the password use admin

So i have a linksys router that i have hooked up and it works but i try a wireless linksys and it won't work?

My regular linksys router works but i try the same cords in thesame places and the wireless router does not work. Any help?|||I need a little more info... Most likely you need to go into the settings of the router and get everything set up... you can access your router's firmware in an internet browser by typing the ip of the router... If it is linksys it is probably 192.168.1.1

goto the advanced gonfig and there it is dmz demilitarized zone. turn that on, that the router can exchange data between the two wires so if one goes down the data is emmediately jumped to the other. like tron XD. otherwise it does it automatically? driver updates are a must.|||If your router will run dd-wrt firmware from http://dd-wrt.com I'm pretty sure you can do load-balancing with the dd-wrt firmware. Otherwise you could just configure the Ubuntu router to handle it, plus the firewall duties that you are currently doing with the linksys router and get rid of the linksys all together.

Can the linksys router I already have be used on a new computer I just bought?

Ive had a linksys router for a few years on my old computer which died out. I got a new computer and want to know if I can use the router I already have or do I need to buy a new one? I have someone who can put it on for me tomorrow but was hoping to avoid buying a brand new one.

Thanks :)|||Your old router will definitely work on your new computer. If you had it hooked through a wire ( Cat5 cable ) then just put the cable into your new computer and make sure the LAN ( Local Area Network is enabled ) If you were connected through a wireless connection then just connect to the wireless network just as B4.|||It should work fine. It is most likely a G router.

Most new computers have support for both N and G so you should be fine.

If I buy a linksys router, how do I make it work?

I'm looking to buy a linksys router. I've read the online manual, and it says for this model, all I have to do is hook it up to the ethernet port in my cable modem. Is that it, or do I have to go through the cable company?|||No, it takes a bit more than that to set up a Linksys router. If you want to set it up with your cable modem, you have to unplug the modem from your Ethernet port. Plug an Ethernet cable into the "Internet" port on the back of the Linksys router. Plug the other end of this cable into the back of the Ethernet card on your comptuer. Then you plug the cable modem into one of the numbered ports on the back of the router.

Chances are your Linksys router will come with it own software. Install this, then follow the instructions on the screen. If you experience problems, type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and enter the username and password for your Linksys router. Then enter your Internet username and password into the field in the "Setup" screen.

What would happen if I reset my LinkSys router?

If I reset my LinkSys router, would I need to do some reconfiguring on my family's 3 laptops? Or is it just, press reset for 30 seconds, then done; the internet is still going to the laptops?|||What wil happen is the router will be reset to its factory default settings - default password, no encryption, etc. It will work with the laptops as all routers do with the factory settings, but it is not safe to run that way for long.

Someone will borrow your wireless from the street and do some kiddie porn or spam using your internet connection. Guess whose door the FBI will be knocking on?

Tuen on the encryption, and reset the admin. password to something only you know.

The linksys site has the details|||It will go back to factory defaults, so you have to set up your SSID and password if you have one. Run the installation like you did when it was new.

I can't connect on the internet when my PC is connected to my Linksys router?

What can I do to connect to internet?

Can i share my mobile phone connection over my Wireless linksys router?

I have a Sony Ericsson mobile phone and installed on my laptop the Sony Ericsson PC suite, so there is an option to connect to the internet from my mobile phone and i can connect without any problem, but i wanna know if i can share the internet connection to wireless internet with my wireless router Linksys, from my mobile phone. If the answer is yes, tell me how!

Thanks|||Actually, YES you can.

From the computer your mobile phone is connected to, plug an Ethernet cable between that and the MODEM Ethernet port on the router.

Then you need to bridge the connections, to do this go to [Control Panel] %26gt;%26gt; [Network Connections].

Now, Hold CTRL and click both the connection icon for your Ethernet/LAN connection, and the mobile internet connection.

Then, right click one of them while they are both highlighted, and click BRIDGE CONNECTIONS.

It will take a few seconds to a couple of minutes to do this, and once it's done, restart both your computer AND your wireless router. When they are both back on, it should work without any problems, and you can connect to your router as you would normally.

For this to work, you have to keep your computer on at all times you want to use your wireless connection, it's not massively convenient, but it is very good if you need to use more than one computer at a time, or it also works for online gaming etc.|||try this!!!

If the mobile broadband internet modem has (not a USB) a Cat5/6 socket, you would connect it directly into the router. The cable modem or DSL modem requires a direct feed to a main computer or wireless router that’s connected to the main computer to edit the settings and share data freely.

Mobile broadband internet modem has a new name by the way. If you visit a carrier store and ask about “MiFi” and how to sign up, they can give it to you. MiFi is another definition of WiFi where you place it in your luggage suit and use WiFi adapters to connect to it and have 3G/4G service.|||No, sorry, that is not possible. You would need a wireless router for that which supports the use of an USB 3G dongle. You would have to take out your SIM card in this case, place it inside the USB 3G dongle and connect it to the USB port of your router.

How to set password to linksys router?

I want to set a password on my linksys router because people are getting connection of mine and making my connection slower. I have a linksys wrt54g. Thanks|||You need to use WAP2 - personal and use as long a character string as you can. Make sure that it does not use english words.

On each computer go to a command window and issue the command ipconfig /all.

Copy down the Physical address, and in the router under wireless, make a MAC address filter, set it to permit and enter all of the MAC addresses of the computer that you want to connect to your router.

In each computer set up the WAP2 - Personal encryption key that you used in the router.

You will have a lot fewer people using your router.|||http://192.168.1.1

How can I link up 2 computers in my home using a linksys router so that they 'communicate w/ each other'?

I have 2 computers in my home (both running Windows XP) and I have internet going to both of them using a LinkSys Router. I want to know how I can use the router to make both computers print to a single printer. Is that possible without paying anything for extra hard/software? Can I do it with just the router?|||It sounds like you aready have them both on your network. If that is true, then the hard part is done.

You'll need to have the printer hooked up to one of the computers. It needs to be installed and working on that computer. You also have to go into the settings for that printer, and allow the printer to be "shared."

The next thing you do is go to the other computer and go to Start.....Printers.... and have Windows search for a network printer. It should find your printer on the other computer.

I have an old linksys router, and I actually just got it to work. The problem is that I don't have the software that came with it. Does anyone know where I can d/l software to set up a security password? The linksys site doesn't have it.|||The "software" is actually the firmware on the router. Then you can use the options to set up a password.|||google the model number.....u'll surely find it on some site..|||You should not need any software. How do I set up my Linksys router/network?

I had to reset my wireless Linksys router yesterday. It's a WRT54GS model. Now, the connection is unsecured - I don't know how to secure it or set the network up as the directions from the box are long gone.

Can anyone help? I can't seem to find out how to do this via google... But then again I don't seem to be the most computer literate person out there! Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks a lot!|||To reset your router, push and hold the reset button in for 30 seconds. Once reset, go to linksys web site and with your model # you can get all the info you need. Go to support.|||I'm assuming you installed the Linksys easylink advisor software? Right click the Linksys icon in your system tray(near clock) and then click Open Linksys easylink advisor. Wait until your network is checked, then click the actions tab.On the right side of the Actions page, click Security. On the next page click Next. I'm pretty sure you'll need to connect your computer directly to the router to continue. Follow the remaining instructions.

How can you disable the firewall options for a Linksys Router?

I recently bought a Linksys Router, and after unchecking the options linked with the firewall, it still seems to block a lot of sites. I am a student, and I have a lot of online classes, so I really need to get this resolved. Does anyone know how to disable the whole firewall? It is a Linksys Wireless G-Router, and I am connected with a wire, if that helps...|||Well, a Linksys Wireless-G Router (I'm guessing a WRT54G?) shouldn't really block any sites with its firewall. All that is enabled on the router is:

Block Anonymous Internet Requests

Filter Multicast

Filter Internet NAT Redirection %26lt;---Off by default

Filter IDENT(Port 113)

So therefore I don't think your firewall is the problem. What is your setup? Is it:

ISP --%26gt; WAN of Router --%26gt; LAN of Router --%26gt; Your Computer

What sites does it block, what does it allow?

Are you on a dynamic or static IP from the ISP?

If you are on dynamic, leave DHCP on. If static, turn off DCHP and put in the static IP. If your have a dynamic IP, you may have to set up DDNS.

Try this:

Go to Start -%26gt; Run --%26gt; type in CMD and press enter

Type in ---%26gt; ipconfig /flushdns

Now try accessing the site. If it works your IP settings are wrong.|||you sure no your business when it comes to linksys routers.....

Is there anyway to reboot my linksys router from my computer?

I was wandering if there were any ways to reboot my linksys router from my computer, thanks!|||Yes. Open your router IP address in any browser, log in as root and push a reboot button.

Depending on the model, you also may be able to set up SNMP-based management and designate your host as managing - once this is set up, you should be able to use SNMP to reboot your router (among other things).|||There is, if you still have the manuel from the box that came with it. Why do I have no signal from my Linksys WRT110 wireless router?

I moved from my old apartment and I am trying to setup my Linksys router but I am using a Mac now and I don't have the CD. I downloaded the setup wizard and went through the setup but it says it was unable to verify my internet connection. I know that my internet is working because I have hooked up directly to the modem. Can someone help me?|||Connect the Mac to the router by Enthernet cable. Look in the router (http://192.268.1.1 - no "www") to see if it has an IP address, a gateway address and at least one DNS address (in the Status page). If not, the router isn't connected to the internet. (Then call your provider's tech support number.)

If the router is connected to the internet, see if you have Wireless enabled (in the Wireless page).

NEVER install router software in a computer. A router isn't an installed device, so it doesn't need installed software. Setting the router up by hand (which takes about 20 seconds) is faster and it leaves no residue in your computer.

How can i get my linksys router to give me internet signal?

i hooked my att dsl modem to my router and i get signal but not internet. i have linksys-g 2.4.|||The signal you are seeing is just a connection to the router.

You need to reboot your entire network when installing a new device like a router. Unplug the power from your modem and your router. wait 30 seconds. Plug in power to your modem, wait for your DSL light to go solid then plug in power to your router.

If you cannot connect restart your computer. If everything says it is connected click on "file" in your internet explorer and make sure that it does not have a check beside "work offline".

Did you set up a password on your router? It is a good idea to, but with windows Vista you have to make sure to enter the password ype and encryption type correctly. Reply if you still cannot connect and I will edit with additional information.

How to open my ports up in my linksys router?

How do I open my ports up in my Linksys router ? I need to open them up and do something with a code to enable cod4 to work on ps3 please help ty =]|||1) You need to make sure the PC (or PS3) has a static, fixed IP address. It should not be using DHCP, as the IP may change. Make sure the static IP is not in the range of your DHCP pool, as it may conflict.

2) Go into the admin of the linksys router. Most have a tab called "Applications and Gaming"

3) In that tab, you will see the forwarding. Give it a name (any name that means something to you), the port or port range to forward...

4) Select "Both" for TCP and UDP, to be sure (some use different ports for different protocols - check your application)

5) Enter the fixed, static IP address you are forwarding to (as in step #1)

6) Click "Enable", and "Save"

That should do it...

How to get wireless connection to Linksys router?

Does it matter which port the cable goes into on a Linksys router?

I'm trying to install and use a printer that I've installed before but have forgotten everything I did. I have a Linksys router. Does it make any difference which port (or hole in the back - whatever) the cable goes into? I've been messing with this thing for 3 days and am beginning to feel VERY stupid.|||I take it this is a network enabled printer? If so the ethernet cable can go to ANY of the LAN (local ports) on the linksys router.

You probably need to check the "network settings" on the printer itself if it does not show up once connected. Usually DHCP will work but it is better for printers and servers to have a specific "static" address within the local network. Just assign the printer a static address "outside the DHCP pool" of the linksys router. Linksys default DHCP pool is .100-.150 so setting your printer to an address like 192.168.1.20 would allow you to always know the printer IP.

Check the printer setup manual for details, if you don't have it go download one from the manufacturers support sight.|||the printer gets plugged into the computer case, not the router.

write down the IP address of the Default Gateway on your Local Area Network Adapter.

Open your web browser and type http://{IP address of Default Gateway}

ie http://192.168.0.1

The Web Administration Username and Password should be

Username: admin and the Password should be left blank by default.

Enable the DHCP server on the router. Save the settings.

Now enable the Wireless radio and give it a name (SSID) and use encryption (64-Bit WEP is sufficient). Give it a 5 character password and REMEMBER IT (make it easy to remember like the first 5 digits or your phone number or your street address). Save the settings and the router should reboot.

Now plug the WAN the cat5 cable into the modem and then other end into the router's WAN port. Cycle the power on the router.

Wait about 30 seconds.

Go to the laptop of WiFi desktop and enable the WiFi connection and scan for WiFi networks. Connect to your (the SSID you entered) then type in the password and you should be good.

You can always use a cat5 ethernet cable and plug it into one of the 4 switch ports on the router to get a more reliable connection.|||Very simple, plug the modem ethernet cable to the router and plug the cable which came with the router to your PC, connected to the router.

The setup is:

Your modem -%26gt; Your router

Your router -%26gt; your PC

After doing so, type http://192.168.1.1 in your address bar which will take you to the router configuration page; there you can hit Wireless tab and apply security to your network; name your SSID wireless network name and clone your PC's MAC Address.

When you're finally done, apply and save the settings, youcan click on Status and see that you are online and everything's ok.

Total setup is about 15 minutes, maybe even less.

How to convert linksys router to a repeater?

I have 2 routers, 1 of them has internet access and i want to use the other router which is linksys WRT54GS ver.6 to extend my wireless network range, i have no idea how to do that so please tell me step by step how to do it, thanks!|||1. Master reset the Linksys router to avoid complications by any past BIOS setting changes like filtering, bridging or service set identifier, or SSID, broadcasting. To complete the reset, plug the router into a power source and place a pin into the reset hole located on the back of the router. Hold the pin in place until the lights flash. Not only does this reset the router BIOS, but it also resets the user interface administration user name and password.

2. Tether the router to your computer by plugging an Ethernet cable into the LAN port located on the back of the router. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the computer.

3. Enter 192.168.1.1 into a Web browser's address bar and press "Enter" on your keyboard. When the authentication box pops up, enter "admin" into the username and password boxes and press "Enter" on the keyboard. If the default information does not work, omit the password and try again. Some Linksys routers use the default password and some do not.

4. Access the "Basic Setup" page and disable the dynamic host configuration protocol, or DHCP, server. This prevents the router from "routing" IP addresses to the equipment on the network. Because this task is left up to the main router on the network, turn it off on this router to avoid connection issues.

5. Change the local IP address to something other than the current address if the main router on your network is also a Linksys router or if it has the same IP address. For example, if both routers are Linksys, change the IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2. Every piece of equipment must have a unique IP address to avoid network conflicts.

6. Click on "Wireless" and change the SSID so it matches the network name on your main router. Therefore, if you named your network SSID on your main router to "eHow Rules" change the SSID on this router to "eHow Rules."

7. Click on "Wireless Security" and change the passphrase to match the passphrase used on the main router. If you do not secure your network, skip this step.

8. Click on "Update Settings" to save the BIOS changes to the router.

9. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the router and the computer. Plug the Ethernet cable into LAN port number one that is located on the back of the main router. Plug the other end into the WAN port of the Linksys you converted into a repeater.|||I think this is exactly what you are looking for.

1) Use WPA2 if possible, WPA if you can't use WPA2.

2) DISABLE the broadcast of your SSID.

How can i put a WEP Key on my Router without the Linksys disk?

I have a linksys router, and our internet keeps crashing, and i believe it is because the neighbors are using my wireless internet. i want to put a WEP key on my router but i dont have the linksys disk it came with. There are plenty of ways to crack a WEP-protected network and plenty of free tools available to help you out. I would go with a WPA key, which will make your network a lot more secure and is a lot less of a hassle then WEP.

Can I use a wireless Linksys router to create a wired network?

(and create a wired network instead of wireless) The wireless signal my PC picks up doesn't seem to be constant.|||Yes you can. In fact there should be an option in the router's web interface to turn the wireless off altogether, that way no one mooch off your broadband connection...unless you already have it password protected.|||Yes, you can connect your PC directly to one of the ports.|||ethernet cable then yes you can|||Yep .... those slots ain't there as pencil sharpeners.

Philip T|||Yes. That is one of the advances to the Linksys. You get both wired and wireless in a single unit.|||Yes you can... in fact, that's how I use mine!

There are labels on the places you can plug ethernet cables in - and you'll want to go into the router's settings (192.168.0.1) and turn off wireless broadcasting if you're not using it.

Why? So other people can't wirelessly hack into the router and use your internet connection / get into your computer.

You'll also want to see if you can update the "firmware" (programs that run the router) so it's more secure and in some cases faster.

Let me know if you need more info, or just ask another question on here!

Tip - Ethernet cables cost 5 - 15 dollars in computer stores.... look for them in dollar / discount stores and save yourself some money.

http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/link鈥?/a>|||While being plugged into the router, open the ie and type you ip address of the router into the address bar. This will open the settings to the router. Have fun.|||PPOE does provide dhcp to the external connection. You need to leave this connection alone, as any changes to it will prevent it connecting to the ISP. If you want dhcp on the machines, you need to set up the router dhcp, and any configuration needs to be carried out first with a cabled connection. This prevents nay incorrect settings shutting you out, which can happen with wireless. You need to check the router manual.

How do I make my Linksys Router work?

We just moved from Time Warner Cable DSL to ATT phone line based DSL, and all is working great with our hard wired computers, but our Linksys has stopped sending a signal to our laptops. We have the ATT modem, and a leviton router. Coming off the leviton is the Linksys WRT310N. How do we fix this?|||If you have 4 or less hardwired computers then it's simple. Take the leviton out of the equation and just go directly from the modem to the linksys router. It has access for 4 ethernet connections and can handle the wireless connection too. Once you've got that set up, make sure that all the information that you HAD stored on the Linksys for your wireless connection is still there. Just open your browser on one of the wired computers and in the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 and it should take you right to the linksys start-up page. Make sure that everything is configured the way it should be there and make sure that you don't have your wireless connection left to the default name of "Linksys" otherwise you may be trying to actually connect into somebody else that lives nearby that has a wireless signal too.|||check www.portforward.com

It may help.|||Stop asking I DONT KNOW|||It is not recommended to have two behind each other due NAT. Remove the Leviton router and connect the the Linksys direct to the ATT modem. The Linksys software won't work with open firmwares.

If you want to go back to the Linksys firmware, you should be able to just log into dd-WRT and specify an official Linksys firmware file for the firmware upgrade.

How Do I Set Up An Internet Connection By Connecting My Laptop To My Linksys Router?

I have a hard time getting wifi on my laptop. But i have the blue linksys router that i can connect it to. How do i connect my laptop to the internet with it?|||First, make sure the "Linksys" has an internet connection (DSL, Cable, etc). That has to be done first.

Once the router is connected all computers that connect to the linksys will have internet. The Router will provide automatic local addressing and will connect all the computers that are connected to it automatically.

Wired or wireless will auto connect provided the router is properly setup and connected to the internet. If you find you have trouble using wireless connections check the wireless setup in the router first. You should have set a unique SSID (change it from "linksys") then set the security level you want to use. WPA2 should be used these days. You need to set a "good" password/passphrase for your wireless system. You can also select the channel to use. If you have issues with channel 6 (the linksys default) then try channel 1 then 11 etc until you find one that gives the best connections.|||Connect PC [wireless] to Router [wired] to Broadband Modem.

I have a Lynksys wireless router connected to 2 macs one wired and 1 wirless . Linksys router?

When I bought this linksys router model wrt54g I thought That you can hook the router with the modem and put it anywhere your house and I was gonna put it in the basement but this kind of router has to connect to my computer. Why is that|||Linksy is a router designed to transmit your internet signal from one computer to the next.,that must not be the case since your asking this question...(.i am trying to understand that you must want ANOTHER desk top to receive the internet in your home)-If you bought this with the intentions of just receiving the internet-then all you had to do was buy a wireless card to insert into your tower and hope that someone in your area has a Linksy in THIER home you can pick up...you might have bought a Linksy for nothing...|||why would you want to put the router in the basement, youre not gonna get a good signal from there, wireless router performs and gives better signal when they are positioned on a higher level or floor of the house. If your host pc will be in the basement too, then youre not gonna have a problem with the signal, but other computers in the house located on higher floors may have difficulty getting signal from the router in the basement.

I have that exact same router and three computers are connected to it wirelessly. my desktop pc is the host pc, then my nephew's computer who is next to my room is also connected wirelessly and getting excellent signal, and my niece who's room is in the garrage have a laptop and also connects to my router wirelessly but she can only get 2 bars of signal which is still good. our house is just one floor.|||If you wan't to avoid having to use a cable between your PC and router you will need to buy a wireless device for your PC. It also will not show you a history... ONLY from the point you turn on the logging, and even then it's a very limited history.

Linksys router?

i bought a linksys router and all ports are stealthed except

port 113 on a test , is this a security risk, also i do have windows firewall on, and wouldnt the nat router drop any

incoming connections on port 113? thanks.|||No, it is not a security risk. I do not know of any exploits or hacks that penetrate port 113. It is backed by a specific process and if a connection attempt that is not IDENT related will not work. I would not worry about it...

The problem with completely stealthing port 113:

Despite the fact that IDENT was never very useful, even today some crusty old UNIX servers 鈥?most commonly IRC Chat, but some eMail servers as well 鈥?still have this IDENT protocol built into them. Any time someone attempts to establish a connection with them, that connection attempt is completely put on hold while the remote server attempts to use IDENT to connect back to the user's port 113 for identification.

If the user had no NAT router or personal firewall 鈥?and no IDENT server running in their machine to accept the remote server's connection request on port 113 鈥?the user's computer would receive the port 113 connection request and immediately, actively reject the connection. The remote server would quickly know that IDENT was not running on the remote user's machine, it probably wouldn't care, and it would proceed to grant the user's suspended connection request.

However, if either a NAT router or a personal firewall ARE blocking and dropping incoming IDENT requests 鈥?if IDENT is fully stealthed 鈥?the remote server's attempts to connect would go unanswered. After waiting a while to hear back from its first connection request packet, it would send a second request packet. Then, after waiting much longer, it would send a third, and a fourth after waiting even longer still. With port 113 stealthed by the user, each incoming request would simply be dropped and ignored by the user's local security defenses. But in the meantime the remote server 鈥?and the user's original connection request 鈥?are "hung" waiting for some reply.

Since stealthed TCP connection attempts usually take 45 seconds or more to be abandoned, the effect is that stealthing of port 113 can cause some connections to some remote servers to hang for nearly a minute. (And SOME remote servers will even go so far as to finally refuse the original connection request if nothing is ever heard back from the client's port 113.)|||In principle, you can forward port 113 to somewhere in your own network that you don't use, effectively masking its presence just it does for all the other ports.

However, if you check the fine print on the test you've done, you probably will see that port 113 is an identification port, and although the Linksys router responded to a probe on port 113, it also indicated that this port is closed.

So, in effect, your router (unlike the NAT protection in effect for all other ports) acknowledged its existence in response to a port 113 probe -- and at the same time said no entrance, the door is closed and locked. This is a very small security risk.

I wanted to change my password because somehow my son's hacked it. I still know the password I just want to know how to change it. Thanks. :)|||Thumbs up preventative advice/answer here...

If you have ADSL, like BT, where your router is connected to your phont line then i would advise against this as you will then be without internet, choose a time to do it when it will inconvenience u less, but your son more, as you will have to get in touch with BT etc or use the CD to run the setup wizard again, oh yea, make sure your son has done his homework before doing this so he is supper bored without the internet all weekend because internet customer services technical support are close all weekend/over a bank holiday weekend! hehe.

If you have a cable router that also plugs into a virgin modem for example then you can push the pin and it wil run with default settings, you may have to power down everything internet related and power up again for it to work, same as with ADSL too if u went that far.

BUT if your son was able to change the password, unfortunately he will probably know exactly how to do what i'm telling u already. So it's futile. But it is possible for someone anywhere in the world to hack the password and change it, some routers were designed with a flaw in their design, which meant an image (or anything) on any website can be used to compromise your router, WITHOUT a user clicking anything on the website! It's a 1 second, fairly short one line of computer code, that can make people with these old routers very miserable, since they rarely change the default password on their router. There are a lot of routers out there like this i'm afraid. So maybe your son could be innocent. I could do this to anyone from facebook, myspace, a google websearch, most websites with images or other documents that can display user submitted documents/images, it doesn't even have to show anything to be honest it could just say page load error 404 or anything and it would be able to change the router password from the default.|||to start off thats not a website, its ur router config page.

to change that u need to go in to that page. since u dont the what pass he changed it to then, do this: there is a deep button on the router take a pen to press it, u hold it for something like 60 sec and it resets everything back to factory, which means the pass also gets set to the default one stated on the sticker down the back. so now u can go into the router then set everything to make sure ur internet works then set the pass. perhaps this was what he did. so jsut tell him after u reset dont do this again. i mean its ur router not his tell him dont mess about with it.

btw u cant change the default one, regardless what u change it to, its u hold the reset button for requirement amount of seconds it gets back to the original one on the sticker.|||with the linksys cd but wouldnt advice you to do it cuz admin is easy to remember
