Can you connect a blackberry to a linksys router if the blackberry is on a voice plan?

I've been considering getting a BlackBerry 8900 with tmobile on a voice plan, but i was wondering if i would be able to connect it with my linksys router with out having to get a data plan.|||I don't think so. Without a data plan, the BlackBerry device will be unable to communicate with the RIM network operating center, which runs the BlackBerry service. Voice will work, but all data features over cellular OR Wi-Fi will not work.
