How do i set up a wireless internet connection with vista and a linksys router?

i have a brand new out of the box hp dv9410 laptop and a linksys wrt54g ver2 router and i had my old acer aspire laptop connected to it with no problem and my desktop, wii, and psp connect to it easy. i should not have 2 contact my servive provider like i saw some 1 else say i connected my old 1 no prob any 1 have a solution?|||Z hgere is quite correct but if you would like to put security onto the router, i would recommend you to open your web browser, and type in the ip address of the router, this will taske you to a router program page and from there, go to a tab which says wireless encryption, type in a code you want, make sure you do this on the old pc, and then turn on the wifi on your new pc/laptop, search and click on the one that has full signal, type in the code that you did earlier, and thats it, you put security on the outer, now no one can gain access to your internet. PS to get the IP address look in the manufacturers booklet that came with the router. Hope This helps.|||no need to contact your ISP. so when you hook up the new router does it work via ethernet? try that first and make sure it works. as for wireless just make sure your wifi is enabled, make sure it sees your router in the list of available networks, then connect and if it wants a key make sure you know it and enter it correctly. by default i think lynksys security is disabled so it should connect easily
