Why does Linksys router not show internet conenction?

My internet works just fine on my PC. I have a wireless linksys router that is used for my laptop. However, when I open the Linksys advisor, it shows I have no internet connection (but I does know I use suddenlink as an ISP.) My PC internet works just fine, and my laptop has an excellent internet signal, but has limited to no connectivity. Everything seems like it should be correct. Any suggestions?|||You do not mention the way that your network is connected, but there are some inconsistencies with your description.

When your PCs Internet connection works just fine is it connected directly to the Internet? Does it still work when connected to the Linksys? When connected to the Linksys does it have "limited.." status?

If the Linksys says that it does not have an Internet connection, but it did in the past, the information that your ISP is "Suddenlink" may be stored in memory and will remain until you change your ISP.

When your laptop says that it has limited or no connectivity, then I know that you have sufficient to excellent Internet signal. What the "limited ..." means is - the physical connection (wireless in this case) is good, but that the DHCP did not give out an IP address to the Laptop.

Suspicion 1: The cable that you use to connect the Linksys to Suddenlink is defective, or not plugged in properly.

If the cable works connected to the PC and you hear the click when you plug it in, and the lights for that port flash momentarily.

Suspicion 2a: Does your PC have a static IP address or is it dynamic? If it is static, then you have to put that static address into the Linksys and make the PC dynamic and leave it connected to the wireless router. If it is dynamic, then

Suspicion 2b: Your ISP requires the MAC address of the PC to be in the device directly connected to the Internet, so if you go to the screen that allows you to enter the PC's MAC as its own. Change it then the connection may come up.

Regarding the lack of IP address for the Laptop, if the Internet connection is up to the Linksys, and the PC is hardwired to the Linksys and is working, if you do know how to release and renew the IP address on the wireless connection, try that, if you do not then restart the Laptop. If the Laptop gets an IP address then problem solved. Otherwise:

It is possible that you have a number of people connecting to your Linksys wirelessly, and you are exceeding the number of allowed connections. Check to make sure that you do not have anyone else connected, and that your number of allowed connections is high enough.

If that is not right.

Suspicion 3a: You have the DHCP function on your Linksys turned off. Turn on DHCP. If that is not it.

Suspicion 3b: Your Laptop has a static IP address and it is outside the range of the subnet of the Linksys. Either make the static address in the correct range, or make it dynamic.

Beyond that good luck.

But more information might help.
