How to troubleshoot for a linksys router that won't connect to the internet?

The linksys router is wrt54g. I pulled the internet cable out of the router a few weeks ago and put it directly into the computer, and have been using wired internet since. Now, I want to use my laptop in other parts of the house again, but I cannot connect to the internet. The computer can connect to the wireless itself, but the router is aparently not receiving the internet or not sending it to the computer.

The modem and cable are fine to my knowledge.|||this happend to me

try unpluging it for about a minute

then plug it right in if

this doesnt work

reset the router from the back unplug it

then configure your router with

the 192.168.1.1

hopefully this helps|||http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/supp鈥?/a> has support. If you can, download any upgrade software that is available and install it. You may have to do a reset of router back to factory settings to begin doing a new setup for Internet and security, wireless encryption. There is usually a switch with a tiny access hole in case for you to poke a paperclip end into for that.
