Will having two hardwired connections to a linksys router make a third wireless connection slower?

Will having two hardwired connections to a linksys router make a third wireless connection slower? I hardwire my Xbox 360 and my iMac but I use wireless for a laptop. Will that make the laptop slower since it's wireless?|||If they are both being used online, yes!|||For one, your wireless connection will almost always be slower than a hard-wired connection. Take a standard 100Mb connect compared to an 802.11G. The 100Mb is 100Mb while the 802.11G connection will be (best case scenario) 54Mb.





Also think of your network in the sense of your plumbing. If you have two faucets open full blast then you open a third, you will see a decrease of pressure and flow in all three faucets. The same can be said of your network.|||If you're not using the xbox or the iMac, then no.





If you're using either one, then of course it will slow it down some.





But if you're asking by just having something connected into an additional Ethernet port will the speed magically decrease for some funky design reason, then the answer is no.





If you run P2P software on your iMac, then heck yeah, both your laptop and you xbox will experience severe slowness. This will conversely happen to the iMac if you run P2P software on your laptop too!|||you might want to investigate a Gigabit router capable of 300 Mbps. If you have a Docsis 3 cable, FIOS, or a symmetrical DSL Internet connection you will also need a modem capable of delivering the faster service...





It depends what model Linksys you have, if you have a "n" and it is a gigabit router, that should not slow down your service...





Maybe a trendnet that can deliver Wireless Data Rates: Up to 300Mbps, i have been using this and am quite happy...

JR|||I have 4 hardwired connections to my PC's plus a wireless going another brand new PC. All run the same with NO drag. This is with a DSL connection that is very stable. You should not have a hard time.
