How to connect a linksys wireless router to my adsl modem on an iMac?

I followed the steps given by the installation CD and the installation prompted that error with router connection.

I have both the linksys router and DSL modem ON

I am able to connect to the internet but the setup wizard failed saying error in router connection

I went to the network properties and I could not turn on the airport

The properties showed that the ethernet is configured through DHCP|||You really DON'T need the CD to configure the router. If you have an ethernet connection to the router simply address the router directly with a web browser type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your MAC. It will ask for the username and password. Linksys uses two combos for passwords, newer units use admin / admin older units dont use a username just enter admin for the password.

Once logged in, you can then setup the router directly.

PS Don't attempt to connect wireless until the router is working. USE A CABLE for the setup. Once setup you can disconnect the cable and connect wirelessly. Part of the setup is used to setup the wireless etc.

If you are connected to the internet and the router is all that is connected to the computer, you already have the router working!

The setup should be Modem----%26gt;router wan port / router lan to ----%26gt; computer
